Russian customs statistics for May 2018

According to Russian customs statistics, from January to May 2018, the import and export volume of Russian goods was 271.39 billion US dollars, an increase of 23.3% over the same period of the previous year (the same below). Among them, exports were US$176.31 billion, up 27.4%; imports were US$95.08 billion, up 16.4%. The trade surplus was 81.23 billion US dollars, an increase of 43.1%.

In the month of May, Russian imports and exports of goods reached US$57.05 billion, an increase of 20.4%. Among them, exports were 36.63 billion US dollars, up 28.6%; imports were 20.42 billion US dollars, up 8.1%. The trade surplus was 16.21 billion US dollars, an increase of 68.8%.

From January to May, the import and export volume of Russian and Chinese goods was US$40.83 billion, an increase of 31.4%. Among them, Russia’s exports to China were US$21.21 billion, up 42.9%, accounting for 12.0% of Russia’s total exports, up 1.3 percentage points; Russia’s imports from China were US$19.62 billion, up 20.9%, accounting for 20.6% of Russia’s total imports, up 0.7 percentage point.

From January to May, Russia’s trade surplus with China was US$1.6 billion. As of May, China is Russia's largest export market and the largest source of imports.
